Stopped by the nearby Asian (i think it's Vietnamese) grocery store to get more aloe vera juice and saw this. Has anybody else tried this instant mix? I'm too lazy to make it from scratch ;)
Dede Instant Boba Milk Tea 3-in-1 mix (12 packs)
$2.99
Ready to make some thai tea boba?
Ingredients:
Left to Right:
Thai Boba Milk Tea 3-in-1 Mix
Tapioca Pearls
Big Boba Tea Straws
STEPS:
I decided to cook the tapioca pearls first.
uncooked hard tapioca pearls a.k.a. boba
1) Boil 10 cups of water for 1 cup of tapioca pearls into a large pot. Bring the water to a boil and pour tapioca pearls into the water and stir it slowly. Cover and leave for 20 minutes. Turn off the stove and let it sit there for 15 minutes.
2) Strain and rinse with water.
3) Cook sugar syrup. You will need 1 cup of white sugar, 1 cup of brown sugar, and 2 cups of water. Mix, cook at medium high heat, and bring to a boil. Turn off stove and let it cool.
Pour the syrup in the cooked tapioca pearls and store in one container.
4) Put 1 packet of instant boba milk tea mix in a glass of water. Mix thoroughly. Since it's a 3-in-1 mix, no need to add creamer and sugar.
5) Add a scoop of tapioca pearls mixed with sugar syrup. Add ice, big straw, and serve.
Don't forget to refrigerate the leftover mixed cooked tapioca pearls and sugar syrup.
MY VERDICT:
Ofcourse, the authentic brewed thai tea tastes better
(this doesn't taste exactly like the real thing, you know how instants are) but this is good enough for me ;)
