West Siddddde!

Saw the WEST SIDE STORY Musical at the Pantages Theater couple weeks ago.

I know it's not good to compare it with the movie but I can't help it.  I liked the movie better.

Here is the musical trailer:

ME NO LIKEY:

1)  The order of the songs COOL and OFFICER KRUPKE was switched.  Somebody said that it was the original Broadway order and that the movie switched it.  Well, I like the order of the movie more because COOL seemed to be approriate after someone died instead of OFFICER KRUPKE where they are goofing around.

2) I also wished the guys participated in AMERICA number - it would have been more fun.

3)  They added some SPANISH lines which I couldn't understand.

ME LIKEY:

1)  The cast have AMAZING vocals.  My fave was their TONIGHT ENSEMBLE version.

2) I'm glad they kept the Jerome Robbin's dance choreo. I heard he was a slave driver in the movie that's why they kicked him out, but they brought him back after it won several OSCARS.  He was a dance genius!

Review: Silk'n SensEpil Home Hair Removal

Do you hate unwanted body hair as much as I do?  Most girls I know just shave overall but I personally use different methods for different areas:

upper lip and underarms - epilator
 legs - shave
bikini - wax

It's a pain that us ladies have to go through and I effin hate it.  I have considered getting professional laser hair removal treatments but the steep price stopped me.  Last year, I stumbled upon this product through Mona's blog post aka makemeblushh, but waited and did some more research before finally deciding to get it...

Silk'n SensEpil Home Laser Hair Removal
This at-home device uses Home Pulse Light (HPL) technology to seek and effectively destroy unwanted hair in the treatment area. HPL has been proven to provide long term hair removal results.

Price Range:  $499+

First, let's check out the FAQ video if this product is for you:

PROS:
1) Physician Recommended
2) Clinically Proven
3) Safe
4) Fast Treatment
5) Easy to Use
6) Minimal Discomfort
7) Cost Effective
8) Privacy at Home

CONS:
1) Not safe to use on naturally dark skin - racist much? The real reason is that the light targets the dark color (which is the hair) and if your skin is too dark, it will cause burns, blisters, and/or change in pigmentation.

2) Not safe to use on facial hair above the cheek line - stick to threading or waxing for brows.
3) Lamp cartridge refill is $50 - each cartridge can deliver 750 pulses (typically cover 2 legs, arms, underarms, and bikini line). If you are tiny like me, one cartridge will last a long time.
4) Not for everybody - See below why

MY VERDICT:
You have to shave the areas first before the treatment.  Well, this is hard for me because I haven't shaved my underarms and bikini area in years since I use epilator/wax.  The device emits light in the target area.  If your skin is not a color match (skin too dark), it will not work because it has a built-in skin color sensor.   Avoid stacking or overlapping of multiple pulses on the same skin spot or it will cause minor adverse effect such as minor skin discomfort, skin redness, increased sensitivity of skin, etc. The first 3-4 treatments should be done every 2 weeks and the rest will be every 4 weeks.  I have only used it twice and I have seen improvement after the initial use.  I noticed that the hairs are growing back but in patches now.  Sorry but I don't wanna post pictures of my body hair lol!  Maybe the bald patches are the areas that I have missed during treatment.  I started with level 1 on the first treatment and level 3 on the second.  I tried level 5 (highest energy level) on one bikini area and pain is still tolerable.  I will use level 5 on my future treatments for better results.

It works but you have to use it properly and safely. Be patient as each of us have different hair growth cycle.  I can't wait to be body hair free!

Weekend Recap (Cosmetic Fix + Phantom of the Opera @ Pantages)

Hello my luvlies! Forgive me for not updating my blog regularly and not responding to all comments.  I really miss blog-hopping and checking out what everyone has been up to but I am so tied up with jewelry custom orders (not that I get a lot, I'm just slow) and some personal activities such as watching musicals, attending sewing/cake decorating classes, and watching kdrama (Playful Kiss).  I really dunno what to prioritize! I'm so bad at this!

That won't stop me tho for somehow taking time and letting you into my so-called life...

Saturday, 9/25/10

We watched the Phantom of the Opera at Pantages Theater in Hollywood.  Although I vaguely remember the movie, I've always liked this since I was a kid.  I only remember a couple of songs such as "Music of the Night" and "All I Ask of You".  I heard they've been on tour for 20 sumthin years.  I gotta see it since it's gonna be their FINAL Los Angeles engagement (until October 31st) and I'm not sure if they will put at end to it period! First time seeing this on stage and it was indeed a great production.  We got good seats too!  See our pics from the show...

After the show, we went to our fave AYCE KBBQ - SANYA in K-Town and then YOGURT HAVEN for dessert.

Sunday, 9/26/10

Slept most of the day and did some jewelry orders while watching TV.  I need to clean my messy room! Thought of baking a cake for my last cake decorating class this Tuesday but we ran out of eggs and milk. Don't you just hate it when that happens? Grrr!

Well that's the end of it! Hope you all had a great weekend!
I hate going back to work this week but this girl needs to pay bills!
Ciao my luvlies!!!

Intro to Sewing @ The Urban Craft Center

Any of you heard about Groupon?  It's a deal-of-the-day website that offers probably the best deals in almost anything under the sun.  Check it out and see if they serve your area.  Couple months ago, I got this Groupon $30 coupon redeemable for one class at The Urban Craft Center (up to $70 value).  I signed up for their INTRO TO SEWING CLASS (3 hours - Regularly priced at $65) since I have this brand new Brother sewing machine that my boyfriend got me for our anniversary that's still in the box and just gathering dust.  I don't want him to think that I'm neglecting it.

I went on a Saturday morning for the 11am-2pm class.  I didn't have time to get the materials (1/2 yard of fabric and thread) ahead of time so I just bought it there since they sell them too.  Class syllabus says we're going to make throw pillow covers.  I had enough time to look around and take some photos inside the studio.

Finally, here's my baby enjoying my masterpiece.  So cute!

Overall, it was a wonderful experience.  I get to meet fellow crafters and hopefully hang out with them in the future.  I don't have any crafty friends that's why to go with.  I am super excited and now planning to take their Patternmaking Class.  That's a whooping $150 though.  Too bad no more Groupon Coupon but I think it's a good investment anyway.  I was so inspired by this girl's blog:  NewDressAday and can't wait to start making my own clothes!!!

Ciao, luvlies!!!
